The Blooming Tulip
I’m extremely excited to launch this new venture! I am passionate about design, love the process of being creative and enjoy the challenge of making it original. It has been my prayer for several years to be able to start my own stationery and design business. Personally, it is fun and exciting and serves as an outlet for me to share with others what I enjoy doing so much. I truly believe that the design skills and talents that I have are just one of the many gifts the Lord has blessed me with, so to Him all credit is due.
The name “The Blooming Tulip” originated from my love for tulips in combination with how I view myself as a designer. In comparison to how a tulip grows, I feel like there are many different influences that shape me as a designer, and it’s only just begun.
I strongly feel “The Blooming Tulip” is the result of answered prayer and has become a reality because of the love, support and encouragement of my family and dear friends. They helped me realize how much I love creating and designing stationery products by giving me numerous opportunities to build my portfolio and helping promote my business. Not to mention, they’re my biggest fans! Thanks and love to all of you…
Design Style and Inspiration
My design approach has always been one that is fresh, clean and classic. I believe that the simplicity of the piece will ultimately convey elegance and sophistication. I strive for my work to present a joyful, timeless and chic look. I rely on design elements like color, shapes, patterns and typography to illustrate and help communicate a message. Most of my inspiration and ideas comes from looking at magazines, exploring paper options, ribbon and fabric.
Experience
I am a 2003 graduate of Meredith College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in graphic design. My seven years of professional experience in graphic design includes interning with a professional sports team, magazine layout for a private company and working in the corporate environment. I am currently working in the educational arena.
Personal
I grew up in Swansboro, N.C. I’m a coastal girl at heart and love being near the water or on the beach. I live in Raleigh with my husband and little dog. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, being outdoors, playing softball, going to NC State sporting events (GO PACK!) and shopping.
